About Swami Ayyappa Giri

Swami Ayyappa Giri was initiated into Kriya Yoga in 1971. Swami was under the direct and close guidance of his celebrated Kriya master, Yogi S.A.A. Ramaiah for more than 20 years.  For the next few decades, he continued to practice Kriya Yoga and Saiva Siddhanta.

Swami was initiated into Kaula Marg in the late 1980’s by Swami Rudranath Giri of Tara Peeth.  This led to development of  chakra pujas and other tantric practices.  Some of these practices are discussed in the tantra section of this web site.  The work with Saiva Siddhanta and Kaula Marg Tantra culminated in  advanced practices of Trika Yoga.

Current Service

At the present time, Swami is under the direct care of Sathguru Babaji, and is active in teaching yogic and tantric sciences.

In addition to a lifetime of practice and teaching Kriya Tantra Yoga, Swami Ayyappa Giri was educated for and became a Certified Prosthetist and Medical Administrator. Following Babaji’s principles of integrating work and worship, Swami has spent a career as an active professor and lecturer in regional medical and physical therapy schools.  In that respect, he  published over 50 articles in the fields of instrumented gait, prosthetics and orthotics under the name Edmond Ayyappa.
